Piano recital Vocal Auditions pAge
Hello,
Thank you for expressing interest in singing at the BHS Piano Recital on May 5th at 7pm. There are a few things you should know before signing up. Since the central point of this event is piano, please understand that it is not a singing competition such as Baldwin Idol and the Talent Show. However, we will work hard to find a place for you to sing somewhere in the recital, but there is no guarantee you will get a song. All students interested in singing solo must demonstrate a very strong sense of intonation (singing in tune), strong rhythm, and a high level of confidence. Some students may be assigned multiple solos, some may not get solos. You will be expected to stay after school that day to run your solo(s) with the pianists. Although you will be allowed to use lyrics at the audition and the performance, you will be expected to learn and sing the entire song on your own. The auditions will be recorded live during class (either audio or video) during class starting on the first school day of April. The judging will be done by 2 music teachers other than myself who will rate your singing based upon categories defined by the state music organization, PMEA.
Thank you,
Mr. Tranter
